Inspection and testing

Inspection turns a specification into a record. A few simple checks during the job make problems visible while they are still easy to fix.

Before spraying

Inspectors check surface cleanliness and profile, moisture, temperature, humidity and dew point, and confirm the right batches are on site.

During application

Wet film gauges and test panels help crews hit the target thickness. Ratio and temperature checks on the rig catch equipment problems early.

After cure

Dry film thickness readings, visual checks and, where the specification asks, holiday tests that find pinholes in linings.

Adhesion

Pull off tests measure how firmly the coating holds the surface. They are often done on a test area first and then at agreed spots.

Do

  • Agree test methods before work starts
  • Keep daily reports
  • Mark and repair defects
  • Store records with the asset

Avoid

  • Testing only at the end
  • No agreed thickness range
  • Ignoring rig readings
  • Undocumented repairs
